CHARLIE SWINGLING

Charlie Swingling has a life like any other suburban kid his age. That is, until a fateful bike ride home from his high school changes everything. Follow Charlie as he tries to pass the great test of the school called Halotempora in book 1 of the Halotempora Trilogy. He will have to let go of everything he has known as real in the process. 

Charlie grows very inquisitive at the school, and finds some friends along the way, some asking the same questions he does. Halotempora has philosophical undertones that throw Charlie for a loop, at least at first! Imagine yourself in his shoes! Wouldn't you be asking questions like him?

In book 2 of the trilogy, titled Ascendancy, Charlie finds himself back at the school, full of answered questions but still yearning for more. "Curiosity is a two-sided blade," he remembers hearing. The desire for power looms over him like the fateful storm that was present at his Awakening. The Ascendancy knows Charlie's potential, and they can't wait to induct him into the fold. Will Charlie succumb to his internal power struggles, or will it just distract him from a larger dark plan unfolding under his very nose?

Charlie, first and foremost, is curious. Charlie is also extremely honest and loyal to his friends. Charlie is an orphan, and though he grows up with his grandma and sister, he still longs for a solid father figure in his life. Charlie has grit, is tough, but is definitely a softie in some situations he wishes he wasn't. Charlie is friends with Melinda May and Emil, as well as Will Faudner, his longtime childhood friend.
